Advances in Lipoprotein(a) Research (ALR), the first open access journal exclusively dedicated to Lipoprotein(a), was officially introduced to the international lipidology community during the 4th World Congress of Clinical Lipidology, held in Vienna, Austria from June 27 to 29, 2025.

The journal's Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Gerhard Kostner, formally announced the launch of ALR during the congress, highlighting the urgent need for a focused, high-quality platform to accelerate Lp(a)-centered research across molecular biology, cardiovascular risk, drug development, and clinical practice.

To enhance engagement and awareness, the ALR team also organized a dedicated exhibition stand at the congress venue, where they met with lipidology researchers, clinicians, and potential contributors. Visitors were introduced to the journal’s scope, open access model, and upcoming publication plans. A curated visual display and take-home materials enabled attendees to learn more about ALR's unique positioning and editorial vision.

The warm reception from the academic community reflects the growing global interest in Lipoprotein(a) as a modifiable risk factor, with several Lp(a)-targeted therapies currently under investigation. ALR was praised for its timeliness and potential to become the authoritative outlet in this specialized yet critical area of cardiovascular research.

The ALR journal is now open for submissions and invites original research, reviews, clinical trial results, and position papers that drive forward the science and medicine of Lp(a).
