Graphical Abstract

To enhance the visual dissemination of articles and help readers quickly understand the core content of the research, authors are encouraged to submit a Graphical Abstract alongside their manuscripts. The graphical abstract may be displayed on the article detail pages, article listings, official platforms, and social media channels.

1. Definition

A graphical abstract is a concise and illustrative image that visually represents the main content, methods, or key conclusions of the article. Its purpose is to attract readers’ attention and reinforce understanding of the paper's core message.

2. Requirements

2.1 Format Requirements

–File format: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF
–Resolution: At least 300 dpi
–Suggested size: Landscape layout, minimum dimensions 1200 × 675 pixels, ideal aspect ratio 16:9
–File size: No more than 5MB

2.2 Content Requirements

–The image should independently convey the core information of the research, avoiding reliance on lengthy text
–Use of concise charts, flow diagrams, schematics, or experimental workflows is recommended
–Text should be in English and brief (recommended no more than 50 words)
–No third-party images, institution logos, or copyright-restricted materials may be included

2.3 Design Recommendations

–Use consistent color schemes to highlight key points and avoid clutter
–High contrast colors are preferred for readability
–Vector graphic software such as Illustrator, PowerPoint, or BioRender is recommended

3. Additional Notes

–Submission of a graphical abstract is optional but strongly encouraged, especially for review and original research article
–Submitted graphical abstracts will be subject to editorial screening. Non-compliant or low-quality images may be returned for revision
–Authors must ensure no copyright issues exist and grant the journal permission to publish the graphical abstract on various platforms

Video Abstract

To increase the reach and impact of research articles, authors are also invited to submit a Video Abstract. This multimedia presentation highlights the key content, research methods, and main conclusions. Video abstracts may be featured on the article homepage, detail pages, listing pages, and across official and social media platforms.

1. Definition

A video abstract is a short video presentation of the article’s content, using narration, animation, images, and voiceover to convey the essence of the study, enabling even non-specialist audiences to understand its value.

2. Requirements

2.1 Technical Requirements

–File format: MP4 (preferred), MOV or AVI accepted
–Resolution: 1080p (1920×1080) or higher
–Duration: Recommended 2–3 minutes, maximum 5 minutes
–File size: No more than 200MB
–Landscape orientation preferred (aspect ratio 16:9); avoid vertical format

2.2 Suggested Content Structure

–Brief introduction to the research background and problem
–Description of main research methods or experimental design
–Summary of key findings and conclusions
–Emphasis on the importance and potential impact of the study
–Optional: Author’s on-camera appearance or voiceover narration to enhance engagement and credibility

2.3 Language and Subtitles

–The video should be in English
–English subtitles are strongly recommended to improve accessibility and viewer experience
–Subtitles must be synchronized, clear, and should not obstruct important visual content

2.4 Copyright and Permissions

–All images, graphs, background music, and materials used must be free of copyright conflicts (use of original or publicly licensed content is advised)
–Authors must grant the journal the right to publish the video abstract on all platforms, including third-party sites

2.5 Technical Tools and Tips

–Suggested tools: PowerPoint screen recording, iMovie, Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, Canva Video, BioRender
–Clear narration and moderate pace are recommended
–Avoid excessive special effects or distracting background music

3. Submission Method

Video abstracts may be uploaded via the manuscript submission system or sent by email after article acceptance. The file name should include the article title or manuscript ID and be accompanied by a brief video abstract description.

4. Editorial Review

All video abstracts will undergo editorial screening to ensure they meet academic dissemination standards. The editorial office reserves the right to request revisions or decline publication of non-compliant videos.
