On July 26, Professor Hongping Yuan highlighted both the achievements and current challenges of the journal, and encouraged Board Members to actively contribute through manuscript submission, promotion, and community engagement to further advance the journal.
2. Self-Introductions
Board Members introduced their institutional affiliations and research areas in turn, fostering mutual understanding and encouraging future collaboration. This interactive session strengthened academic cohesion within the editorial team and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
3. Journal and Publisher Updates
Ms. Lijun Jin, Publishing Director at Science Exploration Publishing, gave an overview of the publisher’s vision and development. Although Science Exploration is a relatively new publisher, it has already launched journals across fields such as biomedicine, materials science, and optics, and has established collaborations with more than 70 academicians. The prospects for its future development are promising.
Ms. April Sha, Managing Editor of JBDE, provided an in-depth overview of the journal’s 2025 publishing model, editorial team updates, development strategies, key challenges, and proposed solutions. She also extended special thanks to Board Members who made notable contributions over the past year.

Board Members actively shared ideas and suggestions to address current challenges and enhance journal development. Key topics included increasing the journal’s visibility, attracting high-quality submissions, expanding collaboration with academic conferences, and establishing Special Issues. Several implementable proposals were raised regarding editorial engagement and promotional strategies. Notably, some early-career scholars expressed enthusiasm for contributing through conference promotion and article submissions.
5. Closing Summary
The meetings helped clarify JBDE’s future direction and injected renewed momentum into its development. With the continued support and joint efforts of the Editorial Board and Editorial Office, JBDE is poised to enhance its academic influence and become a vital platform for scholarly exchange in the field of building design and environment.
